Summer is when our “Snowbirds” return and many of our activities and services are done outdoors.

SUTHERLAND PARK is one example. Sara and Pete purchase and provide some mulch, perennials, and annuals to beautify this Town Adopt-a-Spot. We hope that people see the flowers along the rock wall and decide to drive (or walk) up the hill next to the Town Safety Building on Route 25 and enjoy the flowers, sit at the picnic table and relax for a bit. Lions take turns for a week or two and weed and water the flowers. The white daisies continue to spread and need quite a bit of attention and the different flowers for the different growing seasons add many splashes of color.

FOURTH OF JULY BARBECUE AFTER THE TOWN PARADE. Many members, former Lions, friends and family help out in the shopping, set up, cooking and clean up for free holiday meal at the Function Hall, open to all. There are hot dogs, hamburgers, coleslaw, potato and pasta salads, chips, watermelon, water and lemonade served by us.

BINGO. Tuesday night Bingo numbers continue to increase as returning players and summer visitors and guests have hours of fun playing the different games and meeting new people. Tickets are on sale starting at 5:30 and the games begin at 6:30.

RAFFLE SALES have begun. We raise money for college scholarships for Seniors from Moultonborough, Center Harbor, Sandwich, and Tuftonboro by selling raffle tickets in front of EM Heath’s Supermarket from July through October and at the Holiday Fair in December and through the mail. Our first outdoor raffle sale was July 25. We will be in front of Heath’s on the following dates: August 15, August 29, September 19, and October 10. Hopefully, you will stop by and purchase the winning tickets(a check for $5,000).
