The Club’s 50th Anniversary dinner celebration was held last Saturday evening to a crowd of about 76 people — members of the club as well as visiting club members and dignitaries at the State and International levels. A slide show of past memories played through the cocktail hour which was followed by a delicious dinner prepared by Curt’s Caterers.

After the dinner three new members were inducted into the club: Michelle and Christopher Shipp and John Menken. Mike and Kate Lancor were their sponsors.

Raffle Ticket Stuffing

Between Friday, October 17 and Friday, October 25 Lions Club members stamped, affixed labels and postage stamps, and stuffed over 6,000 envelopes containing raffle tickets and an explanatory letter.  Several people who could not attend either event, stamped envelopes at home and others attended both AND stamped at home.  I believe there were 14 or 15 Lions on the first day for over 2,000 envelopes and 12 lions the second Friday for over 4,000 envelopes!  Let’s hope that all this effort is rewarded by a fantastic return so that the Club can continue to  give scholarships and donations.  Also, a great BIG THANKS to all the people who helped and to those we hope will answer the letters with a contribution.

October 2013 Happenings

This OCTOBER is a special month for the Moultonborough Lions Club; it is the 50th Anniversary of the beginning of the club.  We will be celebrating with a special dinner on Saturday October, 26.  The dinner will be catered by Curt’s Caterers, with a sit-down, plated diner of either Baked Stuffed Shrimp  or Prime Rib.  President Naomi Strickland will be sending out invitations and reservations forms or you can sign up at the October business meeting.  The social hour will begin at 6 pm, followed by dinner at 7:00.  Hope to see everyone there!  If anyone has any photos I can use to develop a pictorial history of the club, please let me know (sarlene98@roadrunner.com) and/or e-mail any digital photos.

The Business Meeting will be held on Monday, October 7  and will begin at 7:00.

On Friday, October 4 the Lions Club will be host to the Red Cross Blood Drive.  Lions are needed to assist and can volunteer by getting in touch with secretary Pat Strickland.  The hours of the Blood Drive are from one to six in the afternoon, and while appointments are not necessary, they are recommended.

This year we will have two dates for getting the Raffle letters ready for mailing — otherwise know as the stuffing party.”  The first will be on Friday, October 18th from 9:00 – 11:00 am and the second will be the following Friday, October 25th, from 10:00 – noon.  The more people who volunteer to help, the more fun and the quicker we can accomplish the task.  Contact Eileen Zewski (erzewski@gmail.com) if you can help either date or both, or sign up at the Business Meeting.
