It’s Raffle Time Again!

As you all know, the annual raffle is the main fundraiser of the Moultonborough Lions Club and the source of the majority of the community scholarships given by the Club.

The dates for selling tickets at E.M. Heath’s are as follows:

  • Thursday, July 3.  Two shifts:  noon – 2:30 and 2:30 – 5:00
  • Saturday, July 19.  Two shifts:  9:30 – noon and noon to 2:30
  • Saturday, August 9.  Two shifts: 9:30 – noon and noon to 2:30
  • Saturday, August 30.  Two shifts: 9:30 – noon and noon to 2:30
  • Saturday, September 13.  Two shifts: 9:30 – noon and noon to 2:30
  • Saturday, October 11.  Two shifts: 9:30 – noon and noon to 2:30

Pat Strickland has already volunteered to sell tickets at the 4th of July Cookout at the Lions Club.

And we will need four people to volunteer ago sell on Saturday, December 6 at the Moultonborough Holiday Fair at MCS.

Do the math; if we can get 24 people, each would only spend two and 1/2 hours on this project.  Remember to sign up at the dinner meeting, business meeting, or by contact Eileen Zewski

We will also need volunteers to stamp return addresses and put stamps (and perhaps address labels) in advance of the “Stuffing Party”  which will be held on Friday, October 24 when we put together all the envelopes for mailing, followed by a pizza lunch.  Signs up for this will happen in September and October.

June Dinner Meeting

The June dinner meeting will be held on Monday, June 16.  This is the installation of officers meeting, and Past District Governor, Wayne Bowden, and his wife Minabell will be our honored guests.  Heading the menu is roast pork.

Lion’s Club Scholarships -2014

The Moultonborough Lion’s Club is giving 12 scholarships to deserving high school seniors from the communities it represents.  Award ceremonies at Inter-Lakes High School and Kingwood Regional High School have not yet been held.  However, Tuesday evening, May 27, Moultonborough Academy held its annual Senior/Parent/Scholarship Banquet at Geneva Point.  Nine Moultonborough Academy students (pictured below) each received a $1,000 scholarship.  Two of scholarships were from the Bicentennial Scholarship Trust Fund; the other scholarships were funded by the annual Lion’s Club Raffle.

Hope Auction

Saturday, May 31 brings the Annual Hope Auction, the benefits of which go to area food pantries.  As always there will be plenty of good items in both the regular and the silent auctions.  Early viewing of the items offered begins at 4:30.

May Speaker – Peter Whelley

At this past Monday’s dinner meeting, the Moultonborough School District’s School Psychologist, gave an interesting and thought-provoking talk on the history of Moultonborough Health and Suicide Prevention Coalition and provided some useful hand-outs on sources to contact and signs to look for.  While this is a serious topic, Peter managed to inject his own brand of positiveness and include several Lions while making his points.
